Petition to fix Nvidia shield movie freezing

All of a sudden a couple updates ago when I start playing a video it even if I played it before and it was fine before this started happening, when I play a video it freezes for 5 seconds but the audio goes and then the video catches up to the audio this is really annoying for me in 12 of my other family members for movies and shows that used to play fine before now all of a sudden this happening my server isn’t even being spiked at all it’s using like no data like it was before and why is this happening just started please fix it.

Punctuation man.

Please see this thread: [BUG]Shield Video Player frozen for 5-10 seconds at start of playback

Sounds like it’s being looked into already.

This is an exoplayer (the Android TV player) bug introduced in Plex Android TV version 8.16. I checked the exoplayer dev issues and it looks like they are aware of the regression and still working on fixing it.

Plex would have to revert exoplayer to fix this, and as far as I can tell, that’s not happening. If it’s bothering you too much, I suggest side loading 8.15.2, since that was the update prior to the buggy exoplayer update. Or you can wait for the eventual fix to make it’s way to Plex.

What exoplayer dev issues are you referring to, specifically? Links, etc.? Just curious

These were the main ones I was looking at. I posted an incorrect Plex version that this was introduced in (that version had other bugs, not this one).

This issue (in exoplayer) was introduced in exoplayer 2.14.0. The just released 8.22.0 has 2.14.1, and 8.16.x has 2.13.1. The Plex changelogs don’t have any of the versions in between, so maybe it’s not exoplayer related.

I’m annoyed by the Android bugs too, and exoplayer integration seems to cause a lot of them.

Yeah but my question is is there going to be a fix some people that aren’t text Abby can do it cuz I have some other friends that I don’t want to have to do this tall their stuff

I hope there’s a fix there better be a fix that’s ridiculous
