Share Link by Url
I would like to have the ability to share photos/photo albums by a generated public url.
Meaning that anyone accessing the url would not have to have a plex account. Similar to how dropbox works where you can generate a url and can be accessed by anyone who visits the url.
Use Case
If I want to share a bunch of photos from a group event I would make an album and then generate a link I can email out to the group or post on facebook. Anyone with the link would be able to click it and view the photos only in that album, and they could share it with other people too. That way all those people don’t have to setup plex accounts and I don’t have to set up sharing with them all, and I can keep my photos on my server and not have to upload them to different locations.
Extra Features
- Add the option to set a passcode/password on the link, then when someone clicks the shared link they are asked for a passcode/password. The person clicking the link would still not need a plex account it would just be a way to make the link a little more secure.
- The ability to set a expiration date on the link and a way to manually destroy it. That way if some clicks on the link after it is expired or destroyed they can no longer access the url.
Bonus for Plex: Advertise on the landing page of the url to get your name out there more, but don’t go too overboard.
