I installed it and now, pressing the “analyze library” command on a single album or the whole library, I see some visual clue of something happening: the circle on the top right menubar rotates for about one second and then it stops.
But nothing else happens, all the black thumbnails are still black. It seems a too short time for anything happening, like really analyzing the library.
It seems there are several “analyze” commands in different parts of the menus: most of them are “Analyze library”, and they do nothing, besides a quick ring rotation. But I realize that, if I open the library and click on the three dots of one album (I use the library view, btw), I get a simpler “Analyze”:
Well, that command doesn’t trigger the rotation ring (it shows nothing) but it does the trick: if I click inside the album, all thumbnails are back again (YAY!).
At this point maybe it worked previously too, but I didn’t know there were two commands (“Analyze library” and “Analyze”). Is there any difference between them?
For the moment I’m marking this as solved, and I’m going to manually launch “Analyze” on every needed album.
Last question: your custom build is v. 1.40, and now the server is reporting an 1.32 update. Of course I’m not updating it. Should I do on next ones or I’ll have to wait until the release version reaches 1.40?
Now that your DB is fixed you can run any version you want. This is an engineering build so it’s likely trying to update to the latest “official release”. 1.40 will be going to plex pass users in the next week or two so you can wait until then or feel free to downgrade if the notification is bothering you.
Thank you very much for all your help, Chris. It was very appreciated.
Last question: what is the difference between the “Analyze library” and “Analyze” commands?
This one appears on the pinned menu in the left column. It shows “Analyze Library”, triggers the rotating ring but apparently doesn’t do anything (it doesn’t rebuild the thumbnails).
This one is on top of the library inside the page. I suppose it should be the same menu of previous screenshot but (of course) it misses “reorder”. Same as above: it does nothing.
This one occurs on the single folders (in this case I have a “travel” parent directory and single travels directories inside). I suppose this should work like the following one (I tested the command only on single travels, so I don’t know if this works for all. Maybe it does, as its name is only “Analyze”, like the next one).
Oh, I see. That’s why it didn’t do anything with thumbnails.
Many thanks again for your help on this matter, Chris, I was getting really mad.
Have a nice day.
P.S. The translation is not bad, “Scan library” in italian means something like “Analizza libreria”. An exact italian meaning for that would be, I think, way too long (it should be like “Check for new stuff”). I suggest to keep that one and change instead “Analizza” to an equivalent of “Verify”. Like “Verifica elemento” (Since you can trigger it at different levels, like root, child directories, etc, “Verifica libreria” won’t be correct, and “Verify” alone could be confusing).
