[PHOTOS Request #3] Free space on mobile device when photos uploaded to PMS, like Google Photos

Hi all Plex users and Plex team!

I love Plex and I bough a Plex Pass only for its “Camera Upload” amazing feature.

I’ve been waiting this kind of feature for a long time to :

  • import my photos quickly and cordless on my computer (to PMS),
  • avoid uploading my personal photos on a cloud (because of privacy concerns and also my poor internet connection).

But I think this could be HIGHLY improved to become a real “Photos Manager”, no only a streaming server.
I’m sure this could be THE “Plex killer feature” that will make many users buy a Plex pass!

So please let me make a set of feature request about it (I’ll do several posts, as described in forum guidelines)

MANY THANKS! B)

Request #3

Free space on mobile device when photos uploaded to PMS, like Google Photos

On my iOS Plex app client, I enabled camera upload and also enabled “automatic upload” option.
So each time I open the Plex app, it will scan my local iOS photos library and if new media are found, they are uploaded to my PMS.

Well. So I can save easily all my photos to my computer hosting PMS.

But usually if I do that, I don’t care anymore to have all these photos locally on my iOS device!
If I want to keep some of them, I’ll just have to sync my prefered photo albums.

So that would be great to have an extra option on “Camera Upload” configuration page to “automatically remove photos & videos” from the iOS camera roll once uploaded with success on the PMS, in order to free space locally.

This can also be done manually from a special menu/button on the iOS Plex app, like it is implemented on the google Photos app : “Free space”.

That would be very handy!

Thanks for reading, don’t forget to like this post if you like this feature request! <3

Plex have announced the “camera upload” feature will be discontinued.
