Hi all Plex users and Plex team!
I love Plex and I bough a Plex Pass only for its “Camera Upload” amazing feature.
I’ve been waiting this kind of feature for a long time to :
- import my photos quickly and cordless on my computer (to PMS),
- avoid uploading my personal photos on a cloud (because of privacy concerns and also my poor internet connection).
But I think this could be HIGHLY improved to become a real “Photos Manager”, no only a streaming server.
I’m sure this could be THE “Plex killer feature” that will make many users buy a Plex pass!
So please let me make a set of feature request about it (I’ll do several posts, as described in forum guidelines)

Automatic “Camera Upload” from iOS on GPS position change, like Dropbox
On iOS Plex app, I’ve enabled the “Camera Upload” feature and enabled the “automatic upload” option.
But the uploads doesn’t coninues in background when I quit the app (see my request #1).
Another great feature to take from Dropbox camera upload feature would be to automatically do the new photos/videos upload on the background when iOS detects a GPS position change. So elegant…
It seems that whan there is a “significant” position change, iOS can detect this and “wake up” some apps on the background to do some tasks. I’m sure that the time of the task (here upload some photos to PMS) is limited by iOS, but this shoule be enough to periodically upload photos without having to open the Plex app.
Imagine you go out for a walk and take a set of photos (your kids, you dog, a beatiful landscape…).
Just come back to your home, take a coffe and “Voila”. Your new photos are already waiting for you on your PMS !!
If Dropbox do that, I guess this should be possible for Plex too!
