This question has been asked and answered regarding several configurations on this forum. I have read these but have not found one that either fit my conditions or was explained well enough for me.
I have a Mac Mini running PHT with several USB3 drives attached that contain my media.
I view my media on a ROKU with the standard PLEX APP.
At some point when I was logging in to the ROKU with my Master PLEX credentials it asked me if I would no longer like to be asked for credentials and just have the app log me in automatically. I answered yes and just have to click the PLEX app and am logged in.
When my internet goes out I lose the ability to watch my media after the buffered amount runs out.
My question is: How do I set it up where I can access my PHT server locally without having a working internet connection?
I do have another ROKU at my moms house but I can set it up to go directly to my static IP for authentication if needed. But, the main importance is to be able to log into PLEX with my ROKU sans internet. I have a MacBook Pro sitting in front of me at all times if I just need to jump on the intranet, access the PLEX server, makes some changes and re-login the ROKU
If you are using any of the Plex Home stuff, you need a connection to plex.tv. Things like managed users, fast user switching, using a PIN, etc - those all require internet access. Are you using any of those things?
I have one user that is my mother connected via another ROKU across town. She rarely uses it so it’s not really necessary. I still want it to remember settings for the master user though
I don’t use those items. I have a master user that is the same as the one i login to here and so I can get plex pass releases
I rarely have outtages and if that occurs I can switch over to my WDTVLive and just browse the directories and play content that way. I just want a recourse in case PLEX goes ■■■■ up to access my PLEX data
It might be that the Roku players require access to the plex.tv server in order to play any content. That shouldn’t be the case though - it should only need internet access for the initial setup. What Roku player do you have?

Nope: You can manually specify an IP or, once it has been authorized via Plex.TV it does not seem to need it again. My Rokus always play my content fine with or without access to Plex.TV or even the internet.
One thing I disable secure connections on my Plex server as my network is quite secure enough and I really see no need for securing my Plex server from my own access. I do not share at all. To be honest I cannot share because my upload is too slow. But still I do not share, or use any other “home” features, and I do not use secure connections. Maybe that is what allows me to have no problems when the internet or Plex is down.
I have secure connections set at preferred not required
I put a manual IP in the ROKU and have both the ROKU and the Server set at secure preferred. They also have GDM enabled. I disconnected my internet connection and it is working fine. This may be a winner
They (PLEX) should have a setting that specifies a secure connection required outside local subnet. I wonder if there is a way to do this as I still do connect to the ROKU at my mothers. I guess I will just have to specify Security required on her ROKU
