Play a youtube video from plex

From a movie info sheet and without using the plex pass, I would like to be able to read youtube videos from plex (for example trailers).

do you have any ideas ?

Thanks

You might want to be a bit more specific as for what you want to achieve… is this only about using online trailers from Youtube?
From what I remember, Plex had already commented they cannot offer that for licensing reasons (or the lack of clarity who actually owns the content running through Youtube).

There’s an existing feature suggestion to include Youtube shows into the Web Shows feature.

If it’s a more generic “let’s play Youtube content through Plex” – Plex has discontinued the support for content channels/plugins some years ago

Thank you for your quick feedback.

Indeed it’s a little complicated to explain by text.
My idea was from a movie info sheet, to be able to launch the trailer which behind is a Youtube video.
Before I was using this feature (September 2020) but since the plugin is not updated and does not work anymore (Youtube API change?) GitHub - kolsys/YouTubeTV.bundle: Plex YouTube video plugin

Otherwise, I’m going to host my videos that I’ll get from Youtube but is there a plugin for that?

No, there’s no more plugins to play media from other sources.

Ok thanks for the info.
But is it possible to host the trailers locally to play them?
However, is there any software or script to download and associate the trailers to the videos (for example: GitHub - airship-david/Trailer-Downloader: Simple set of python scripts for downloading a movie trailer from Apple or from YouTube with help from TMDB.) but maybe there is another one more recent?

Closing this thread, considering it implemented.

  • you can use automatically linked online trailers (requires Plex Pass)
  • you can add trailers as local extras (see link posted by CostaHT)
