@sa2000 , I have installed the beta Plex Media Server v1.25.8.5621 onto my Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS machine. I have also disabled the script I’ve been running which monitors and restarts the Plex Tuner Service when it becomes unresponsive. I’ll do some testing and see if I can trigger any tuner service hangs and update here if it continues to occur. Hopefully I can come back in a bit and mark this solved!
I have not experienced any unrecoverable Tuner crashes since installing beta Plex Media Server v1.25.8.5621. I consider this issue resolved.
Thanks for the feedback - I think Plex Tuner Service is more reliable now after the dependencies updates and of course the tcp port in use bug - but we still have evidence of crashes to resolve - may be happening less frequent than before

I still commonly get this problem. This is a show stopper level problem, because I have to reboot my shield to fix it, and it needs to be addressed. I noticed that in the feedback it said “should reduce the impact”, which means the problem has not been solved yet. It is clearly a software race condition, which I can say confidently as a professional software developer. Please address this problem. Thank you.
Can indeed confirm it is happening less frequently, from 4-7 times/day to 1-2 times/day on the newer server versions.
Sadly it looks that I need to downgrade the server to 1.24 due to another bug around web player, that makes movies stop and buffer when played in browsers
We are waiting for dump files - there appears to be an issue with creating crash logs for Plex Tuner Service on linux PMS systems at the moment
