It looks like your Plex Tuner Service is failing to start with error “Unable to lock named mutex”. I’ve posted log extracts below. Would you check to see if you see anything listening on port 32600? To check, from a command prompt run:

netstat -aon | find /i “:32600”

Or run the Windows Resource Monitor, go to tab “Network”, then subheading “Listening Ports”, sort by port number, and see if you see port 32600. If you do, what “Image” is listed for that line?

To make sure, have you rebooted your Windows server to see if that helps?

thanks man. I ran the command and nothing happened. i checked the resource monitor and don’t see a listing for it unfortunately. i did just rebooted my pc (just a desktop, not a server)

again, worked earlier/last week, not sure if a server update broke something…

Here’s a screenshot:

I just tried opening port 32600 on my router and rebooted it. working fine now! so strange…

Wow, I could write a long post about how many ways that makes no sense me - but glad it is working!

Hi, can you tell me how you opened port 32600 on your router? I don’t understand why this is failing since the July 22 version, which worked fine…

Thanks

I don’t even know that opening this port helped, it might’ve just been my tuner giving issues, but it can’t hurt right? You just need to go into your router settings and setup the port forwarding, the same way you would for plex remote access. Use TCP/UDP protocol, tell it what port and select your pc as the ip address. here’s a screenshot of my setup, on a netgear router (http://routerlogin.net/). not sure if it helps:

I’m having random tuner service shutdowns, with the same “unable to lock” message. How did you identify the “Plex 2 Live TV” service name?

I am having this same issue since the update to 1.20.0.3133

I think this is a problem with the Plex Update Service running and messing up the Plex Tuner Service. I killed the Plex Media Service task, and the Update Service task, and restarted the Plex Media Server, by double clicking on it in the Plex Media Server folder. The Update Service task didn’t start, and now the Plex Tuner Service is there and doesn’t crash. When I reboot my machine, I have to do this each time.

Wow, my tuner service is also crashing with the Unable to lock named mutex Error! I will try this fix. Yikes.

Killing the Update Service immediately got my tuner operational. Plex needs to fix this ASAP.

Bump

It’s February and this is still a problem. My tuner has been intermittent for months. Until I saw this post, I had no idea why.

Looks like I am having the same issue but the plex tuner service will not start. I began having this issue in February 2021 after an update.

Having the same issue since the beta update from June 5th.
Finds my routers builtin DVB-C tuner, does not find my satellite reciver (which it found for years before). Tried the tip in this thread, did not resolve my problem.

having this issue after the upgrade in February. I have done all the items on this list but none have worked.
