Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Today I got this error after updating the server software. After reinstalling everything else with no luck I rolled back the server to version 1.19.5.3112. Now live TV works fine again.

Having the same issue. DVR worked until yesterday when I updated version. Now I’m getting error message: “Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.”
Checked antenna, checked tuner (Hauppauge WinTV-DualHD). They work find independent of Plex. Did a fresh reset of tuner on Plex. Plex recognized unit, was able to scan and find all the channels, and create guide. But when I go to place a channel, I get the error message: “Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.” I would roll back to the previous build, but have issues in doing so.
I require more from Plex than that. It’s time for Plex to check its own issues. Is there an actual support team at Plex, or do we just have to figure out among ourselves how to deal with their screw-ups?

Could you get me server logs with debug logging enabled of tuning the channel under 1.19.5.3112 and also with 1.20.1.3252 ?

Please note down the time of the test and the channel number and please use the same channel after a fresh launch of Plex Media Server for each of the 2 tests

Having the same issue with message “Playback Error - Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.” Running version 1.20.1.3252.
The thing is that I’ve check the tuner with other software and all the channels are being received by the tuner, from the antenna, just fine.
Would love to know if anyone has a fix!
I installed the previous version of Plex Media Server (1.19.5.3112). Tuner works perfectly again. Didn’t work at all with 1.20.1.1352.
Where do I go to get that version? Thanks! edit: I just pulled an old version from my downloads folder, though it was only 1.16.X
Same issue here. Fixed when I downgrade also. Running Windows 10.
I too am having the same problem after installing the latest version of the software. At first I though it was an issue with the TV guide as good morning america (two hour show) became a 30 minute show after the update. The “new” show is some generic look guy smiling with the tag of ABC news. It wasn’t until multiple attempts to re download the guide that I turned my attention to the tuner cards I have. I get the same unable to tune your channel please check the antenna. The antenna is fine as I watch over the air broadcast with no issues. SOMETHING IS BROKEN IN THE Version 1.20.1.3252 AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED! The only reason I subscribed to the plex pass program and bought a TV tuner card was to have the ability to record over the air broadcast and now it no longer works. Please put out a patch or provide a link to be able to download the last working version as I do not have it in my download folder
UPDATE: Uninstalling the newest version and reinstalling Version 1.19.5.3112 resolved my issues!
would it be possible to get two sets of server logs for me to compare - when tuning the same channel - one with 1.20.1.3252 and one with 1.19.5.3112 ?

Same Problem here, “Playback Error - Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna” .it started soon after the upgrade to 1.20 A reboot will occasionally allow me to use the tuner for a short period, but it always fails within a day, rendering DVR recordings impossible. The tuner is a Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD ATSC on a windows 10 system. I’d roll back to 1.19 if I could find it somewhere.
The tuner works fine using the Hauppauge software so it is unlikely a tuner problem.
Edit: just found 1.19 version and installed it, so far so good. Tuner seems to work fine.

Hauppauge tuner software plays any channel fine! I downloaded most recent Hauppauge driver installed rebooted and same scenario PLEX cant reach tuner card Hauppauge finds tuner card fine.
All started after last weeks Microsoft Sept updates.

I can remove the two tuners contained in the quad card from the DVR setup, and re-enable them and they automatically configuring the previous channels known. When I tell it to rescan to build a newer channel list, it never starts a scan with the timer displayed “frozen” till I cancel and just accept the old list.
I had exactly the same experience. I rolled back to 1.19 and it fixed mine as well.
In case it helps, I have exactly the same issue. Hauppauge Dual HD TV dongle, worked fine when I first installed it with Plex Media server 1.19.nnn, but after upgrade to Version 1.20.1.3252, it has stopped working when I try to play live TV with Playback error. as reported in other posts.
Tried complete reinstall of TV dongle, checked aerial signal on a real TV and it is fine. Plex server lets me scan channels (and finds them all) after reinstallation of Hauppauge device, but won’t let me rescan, just sits with the digital scan timer at 12.00.
Please fix this…

I installed the DVR on 1.20.xxx and it worked yesterday, but today it stopped working.
And got the same error message as everyone else. I ended up deleting the DVR device from Plex - the scan was no longer working either, so I rebooted it and set it up again, and now it is working.
HEY PLEX STOP ASKING FOR LOGS THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE AND FIX THIS!!!

@cymbals: Has it continued to work? I did the same as you and it was only a temporary fix, it crapped out later that day.
Yes, it is working great now. I forgot to.mention one other thing- I have the Hauppauge dual tuner, and moved it from a USB 3 port to a USB 2 port. That may have played a big part in this.
I am able to record two shows at once, and have it delete commercials. It is pretty amazing. Thank you Plex team!
When watching Live TV I also found it works better if you change the stream to a lower resolution. Otherwise it was a 36 Mbps stream and was hourglassing forever.

Just tried the new update (1.20.2.3343), still no tuner functioning. Rolled back to version 1.19.5.3112 and the tuner works again. Using Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD ATSC USB dongle. As said before, I have tried all the options listed above including different usb ports, deleting and reinstalling the DVR in Plex, etc. Any comment from Plex representatives?
