Playback error code: 4294967276 preventing all files from playing

Server Version#:1.41.2.9200-72009200
Player Version#:1.105.1
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

Looking for some help troubleshooting a playback error that I cannot seem to solve. I have tried deleting plex app and reinstalling. I have tried reinstalling the server side as well. I can play any file from a browser and on apple tv with no problem. Only the desktop app is giving me problems. Any help would be so grateful. Thank you very much.

If you’re using Chrome to play it back, there lies your problem. My other browsers work fine. :crossed_fingers:

Try installing the latest Beta version of PMS and see if the problem persists.

Otherwise, do the following in the order given:

  1. Stop Plex from running on the NAS.
  2. Wait for 3 minutes then restart Plex.
  3. Open Plex/Web using http://NAS-IP-ADDRESS:32400 and play something you know has failed before
  4. Open Plex Settings > Server > Troubleshooting and click on Download Logs.
  5. Attach the .zip file to your post, thanks.

Thank you for the detailed instructions.
the beta version did not make any difference when trying to play from the MacOS desktop app. Attached is the .zip file of the logs. Thank you again.

Thanks.

No issues playing the file here that I can see at least, but I’m afraid my instructions were not very clear.

I really meant for you to play something in the desktop app that has failed before and then grab the logs, so that I could see the failure in action.

Stop the Plex for Mac OS app, restart it and play something until it fails, then open Finder and navigate to: ~/Library/Logs/Plex/ and zip the contents of that folder and add the zip file to your post as well as the server logs, thanks.

My apologies for not making things clear.

Thank you for clarifying, this makes more sense. See attached.

Thanks for that

The server is doing what it is supposed to and transcoding the file in question, then it complains that the rug was pulled out from under it and the session was whacked.

That seems to indicate that the issue is with the Plex for Mac OS app.

The Plex for Mac OS logs complain of an unknown error and then it simply stops. Unfortunately, I am not knowledgeable enough to decipher the Plex for Mac OS logs correctly.

I will ask @ChuckPa if he can pass this on to the appropriate folks at Plex.

With a little luck, they may be able to help you further.
