Playback Problems on Apple TV

Hi there,
does anyone else have playback problems with the Apple TV lately? Until now I could easily stream my Blu-Ray collection to the TV without any problems but more recently I always get an error saying the connection to the server is not fast enough…
I can playback the movies in a browser without a problem so the server is capable of handling it (I also just upgraded it because of this to support USB 3 and gigabit ethernet).
Not sure if it started with some Plex Server update or tvOS 11…

I have 2 ATV 4ks and 3 ATV th Gens and no problems on any of them. I have had issues with WIFI in the past and my router. I upgraded that device and it all went away.

Paul i am not shure. But your problem mostly looks like problem with slow speed connection of ATV with your network.

It sure does but nothing changed in the past few months :confused: And I can AirPlay the same files from my Mac without a problem… I have a pretty decent WIFI router but the Apple TV and server are connected over ethernet anyway.

There has to be some kind of problem with the Plex App on the Apple TV…

I just opened a movie in QuickTime on my Mac via an AFP file sharing connection on the same server Plex is installed on. In QuickTime I then chose my AppleTV as an AirPlay destination and it works a lot better than using the Plex App on the Apple TV directly.

Short summary:
Sever -----(AFP)----> Mac QuickTime ----(AirPlay)----> AppleTV: Works with a short buffer time when starting the movie
Server -----(Plex)-----> AppleTV: Does not work at all, hangs every few seconds

Test Files:
Avatar 14,3 Mbps video (h264 - 1080p) and 640Kbps audio (AC-3)
Testclip 57,2Mbps video (ProRes 422 Proxy - 1350p) and 1536Kbps audio (PCM)
Testclip 2 183Mbps video (ProRes 422 HQ - 1080p) and 2304Kbps audio (PCM)

I can playback all the test clips via an AFP connection over WiFi at full speed without buffering… Even a ProRes HQ file with nearly 13x the bitrate as the movie I am trying to watch plays fine on my Mac.

Is there any way I can debug this on the TV side?

Edit: I also added the network speed from my Apple TV as an attachment. This is just a test of the internet connection speed so the local connection should be even faster but even if not it is still fast enough for a 14,3 Mbps video.
