I was talking with some devs about this and they think it may be database related.
is it possible to
Get the database after re adding the item and it plays fine
then make the edit to poster or whatever and get changed database after it fails.
The devs think comparing these two copies of database may help figure it out.
( along with server and player logs from those sessions of those particular media playback attempts)
Where do I get the database file?
in the troubleshooting section of server settings. There is a button to download it next to the one to download logs

so that is the database after the error where you edited something about it’s metadata?

Is it possible to get a copy from before it is edited and the item played fine so we can compare the two
Good news, upgraded to the latest version of the server last night, the issue seems to have disappeared.
Will send you database file If the problem pops up again
