Playback Won’t Resume After Pausing

I am writing to request technical support regarding an issue I am experiencing with Plex.

Every time I play content, if I pause or stop playback on any of my devices, I am unable to resume. I encounter a continuous spinning circle, and the media fails to play.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Sincerely,

James

for how long are you leaving it paused or stopped.

which are those?

What is your server version number? and what operating system are you running it on?

How if your media drives connected ot your server? ( internal drives, USB drives, network drives, etc)

I’m using a Windows 11 PC. Plex Version 4.156.0 The media drives are connected via USB. If I stop & try to resume later it won’t work. If I pause for more than 5 minutes, it won’t work.

So you are only playing back via the web browser?

Are your USB drives SSD or spinning ones? SSD’s have no moving parts. The spinning ones are larger and you should be able to feel them spinning by touching them when they are actively being accessed.

I am wondering if after a long pause the drives stop spinning so when you hit play again they are not ready anymore.

No, sorry. I’m trying to watch them on Amazon Fire sticks, Apple TV devices, Rokus, etc.

One drive is a Seagate 5 TB and I believe it’s a HDD & the other one is a WD Easystore 5 TB I believe is an SSD

OK. Can you grab the player logs from one of your devices when from after you pause and it gets stuck. The fire Tv logs , Apple TV logs or Roku logs are probably easiest to get. Also get the server logs right after it happens.

I’m not sure what the issue is yet but hopefully the logs will tell the devs something. I do suggest hitting stop instead of pause if you think you will be leaving it paused for longer periods.
