Playing iTunes music via Roku

I purchased a Roku and installed Plex on my desktop computer in order to play my iTunes library music on my home theater system.  Roku said this would work.  Everything seems to have been set up correctly in that my iTunes library does indeed appear on the bigscreen TV via wifi to the Roku, however when I navigate to a song or playlist, etc. and select "play", although it responds momentarily it almost immediately reverts to the previous screen without playing the song, i.e. it asks me again if I want to select "play".  Anyone have an idea as to why this might be happening?  Thanks very much in advance.

The Roku players are tiny devices without any hard drives, designed specifically to play back video over the network on your TV set. It's one of Apple TV's direct competitors, but with an entry-level model starting at $49.99. All models support playback of a growing collection of multimedia “channels,” including Amazon Video on Demand, Netflix streaming, MLB.tv, Pandora, Hulu Plus (in a forthcoming release) and more.

Step 1 Download iTunes M4V Video Converter Plus Windows, install and run on your Windows.

Step 2 Add iTunes movies to the M4V Converter for Windows

Click "Add" tag on the upper left corner and then all your rented and purchasd iTunes videos would be popped-up, choose videos you want to play on Roku USB channel and click "OK" button.

Step 3 Choose output format for Roku

iTunes M4V Video Converter Plus Windows supports converting DRM-protected iTunes M4V videos to various formats, such as MP4, compatible with Roku.

Step 4 Start conversion on Windows

As soon as everything is ready, you can click "Converter" button to start the iTunes M4V video to Roku USB Channel conversion immediately.

After converting the movies successfully, you can transfer the converted video to a USB file or SD card and attach it to Roku box. Now the Roku set-top box will have no trouble to play iTunes movie files.

You know the iTunes music and Apple Music are encoded in M4P format with FairPlay DRM protection, which is not supported by Roku. If you want to play iTunes music on Roku, you need get help from some third-party software like TuneFab Apple Music Converter.

Purchased music from iTunes has been DRM free for a few years now. If you still have older purchased stuff you can delete your file and redone load and it will come DRM free. You can tell which are protected by looking at the file source. It will have protected in the file name.

As far as I know, the iTunes music is still protected by DRM and you can’t play them via Roku unless you has used an DRM removal tool to get rid of the DRM protection.
