Playlist building feature on client apps

There are several suggestions regarding playlists, but I haven’t found one that specifically identifies a workflow. This is my suggestion for one such workflow:

While browsing my music on a Plex app (Roku, Shield, etc.), I would like to be able to do the following:

  1. As a song is playing, mark (select) the song in some way. Maybe an item on the “more…” menu.
  2. After browsing through multiple albums, across all artists/genre/etc., create a playlist or collection of all the songs selected in step 1.
  3. Save that playlist with a name for future use.

This is essentially the same as the “Collections” feature on Plex Server, but with the added ability to add individual songs to a collection/playlist, and to do it all via the client app, rather than at the server.

Not only music please, music videos and therefore Video-files whatever they might be.

I want this for Movies and TV shows. It would be helpful in use cases like:

TV: A show like X-Files where a playlist could be made of all the core/meta storylines that avoids the monster-of=the-week episodes

Movies: A Playlist of all the James Bond films(each named something very different, so not grouped otherwise)

I'd like to see playlist support too. I miss that from XBMC, being able to create a playlists of tv show episodes, movies or music to enjoy.

I would love this feature!  It would mean that I wouldnt have to pay for Spotify anymore!

Yes I would love this. Being able to create a collection or playlist of Movies or TV Shows and then Playing that collections would be amazing!

Please create this feature. This is one feature that it is lacking. Also, being able to use iTune playlists would be a plus as well.

I'm really really surprised that there is no playlist support with plex.

Beside the fact that I love Plex, I don't understand why I can't even play my m3u files with it :unsure:

It is basical functionnality no ?! I am wrong ?

This has been implemented already, if we lack features I guess thread should be closed anyway and those directed to specific threads.

But anyway, it should be closed with link to the implementation-info.

The request is to be able to add tracks to a playlist via the Roku app.  That has not been implemented.

I dont know why this basic functionality does not exist for Roku, it exists on the android platforms.

From a Roku playing on a tv I don’t see anyway to add a song that I’m playing to a playlist.

I was playing my playlist of songs and I thought of a song that wasn’t on that playlist. I searched for the song and played it but there was no way to add it to a playlist that I could see
