I am running Plex (I have a lifetime Plex Pass) on a Synology DS1520+ (has the latest’s updates). Everything in the home is on a hardwired network going through a gigabit switch. I have my music videos under a ‘Music Video’ folder on my NAS, Plex Version 4.145.1. I created a ‘Playlists’ from the music videos under the ‘Music Video’ folder.
On my Sony TV (model XR-55A80J) I pick on the Plex app, navigate to the Playlists, pick on the Shuffle option and play the music videos, I have about 150 or so music videos in my playlists, the Sony TV plays them perfectly, when it shuffles to load the next music video, the spinning circle shows up for a couple of seconds, then plays the next music video in the shuffle.
On my projector, I have a Roku player (model 4802X), follow the same process, pick on the Plex app, navigate to the Playlists, pick on the Shuffle option to play the music video. What happens under Roku is the spinning circle shows up, a music video may popup on the projector screen, but it’ll play the last couple seconds of the music video, then it’ll shuffle to the next music video, the spinning circle shows up (sometimes shows loading progress as a percentage) then maybe the end of the music video will play for a couple of seconds, then jumps to the next music video in the shuffle, some music videos will start playing from the beginning and play properly for the entire song, then loads the next video, might see a second or so ending of that video then jumps to the next, also may show a second or two of the ending and then continue on to the next video, then sometimes a blank screen for a few seconds, spinning circle, then loads another video, may or may not play it, and it may play another video perfectly, it’s very random as to what it’ll do, but it mostly will play about one in five or so videos.
So I was thinking it might be something with the Roku, but then I loaded the Windows Plex app on my home theater computer (Windows 11 64 bit), followed the same process to run my music video playlists and it does the same exact thing as the Roku!
Does anyone know what is causing this and why it works perfectly on the Sony TV Plex app, but not on the Roku or the computer.
If I don’t go through the playlist listing, and just play each music video under the ‘Music Video’ folder they play fine. This only happens using a playlists.
Anyone have any idea as to what could be the cause of this, and how to correct?
