Ok, so, my set up is basically a Plex sever running on a Windows 10 machine were I access stuff, set up playlists, etc. on the same machine.
I also access this server on my living room TV via Apple TV. I have a fairly large collection of performance music videos that I have in a playlist and play this list via shuffle.
This list is very large, with almost 900 videos in it. The cool thing I noticed is, Plex will build the random play back list based on if the video is un-played or not. Well, it seems to give preference to those.
So, what I have found that really works well, is manually mark all the videos as played, BEFORE I add anything new. So, when the list is generated on shuffle, the new videos have preferred inclusion.
To do this, I have to go to folder view on the server, select all the videos and mark them as played. I am using Chrome for this and, unfortunately, there is no “select all”. Ironically, though, there is a “deselect all”.
The problems are, in Chrome, if you select the 1st video, then if you try to use the scroll bars, you can’t shift select the rest. If you don’t use the scroll bars in the browser, you can. So, it’s of matter of using the page down button repeatedly till I get to the end.
With almost 900 videos, it’s a pain, but, doable.
So, please, if at all possible, add a “select all”!!!
