I have had some trouble with anything I watch on my PS4 buffering all the time. It's not my PC. It's not my network.
I found somewhere, not sure here or some other forum, that you could increase the size of the 'IPC buffer'.
The default size is 4194304, so I added two zeros onto mine bumping it up to 419430400.
Since I have done this it has not buffered once. Though what I have done isn't an official fix, I'd like some sort of info from someone who knows what the hell they're talking about in terms of how high I can raise this number, how high I should NOT raise it etc.
We don't recommend anyone touches that value. First response while gathering context from our server engineers was "Don't touch it". I know, weird we would let you touch it but recommend you don't. I imagine we had a good reason at the time.
There are a lot of influencing factors here. Will you help me with answers to as many of these as possible?
Which buffering are you talking about:
frequent intermittent buffering during playback?
or, the "Buffering..." that displays around 50% and the PS3/4 stops playing further?
What is the Quality selected in the options dialog in video playback?
Have you selected AC3 audio in Receiver Capabilities?
Thanks for this post... interesting... as i've been having the exact same issue, i've ended up reverting back to my Apple TV setup... But I will give this setting a try and update ....
Yep fixed my issue as well... I had a 8GB file which i was playing which was buffering every 5 minutes, since altering that settings no issues since...
I think I may have spoke too soon sadly. I have still had buffering issues. I will try and answer your questions to the best of my knowledge though.
Which buffering are you talking about:
frequent intermittent buffering during playback?Yes.
or, the "Buffering..." that displays around 50% and the PS3/4 stops playing further? Not really a defined point, it's just random.
What is the Quality selected in the options dialog in video playback? It's usually set to recommended, but I have played around with changing it to a lower setting, though this has had no noticeable affect.
Have you selected AC3 audio in Receiver Capabilities?Yes.
Are you using subtitles?No.
What is the media information for the video?Various combinations of all of them. (I realise that is a vague answer, but it would take too long to list them all!)
Are you running PMS on a Windows machine?I am indeed (Win 7 Ultimate 64bit)
If you return the size to default 4194303 does the buffering problem return? This is moot now as I still have the buffering issue.
I'm very keen to get this problem fixed as I really like the Plex set-up. I'm happy to help where possible. Though as a paying customer I would like to know this is being resolved.
I've also just noticed there's an update which I have not installed. I had this set to automatically install updates but it did not, so I don;t know if there's a little bug there as well? I will report back tomorrow to see id the update has changed anything.
should be under settings then server hit advance and its not far down and changing that fixed my buffering thats first thing i did and havet had a problem localy and last night i was watching a 11.9Mbit movie it worked flawlessly.

I don't have that option in the PMS for ubuntu...
Somebody knows how can I edit that option? maybe editing some file? or something?
