I have the lifetime plex pass, the reason I use plex in the first place is because of that feature.
I bought it to support plex for making a great app, and now they just remove the feature I use the most, I feel scammed, betrayed.
This feature helps connect people all over the world, long distance relationships/friendships.
I’m agoraphobic, this is the main way I am able to connect with my friends. This makes me incredibly sad, but even more mad.
I see with the outcry that I’m not the only one who feels like this.
Please reconsider. PLEASE.
Or I’ll need to find an alternative app, I mean you already have my money, but people might think twice if they realize the feature they like can just get scrapped. People might be more hesitant to give you guys money.
This is enough to make Jellyfin fix sync play and get us over there. But this is probably what Plex wants as they don’t have interest in their old consumers. Only people who stream from Plex provided and ad supported content.
They expected the backlash and don’t care. They want to attract new customers streaming content provided by Plex with ads and consider existing users who host their own content as a net loss. And they will see that loss when users move to Jellyfin.
I too purchased my Plex Pass because of this and other features. In a time where developers need to expand features, why would they look to remove a simple feature like this? Does not make sense.
There is zero reason to remove this beneficial feature for those who rely on it. Please reconsider your stance and DONT remove the Watch Together feature. A product/service should be improved upon, with features added, not removed. This is regression, not progression.
Watch Together is my entire reason for sticking with Plex instead of just running Jellyfin. I bought the Plex Pass for this reason specifically because I regularly watch with people that aren’t physically in the room with me and now I feel like the rug was pulled out from under me as a consumer.
I think Plex should offer refunds if they remove Watch Together.
Plex deprecating this feature is truly one of the worst things to have happened to Plex in years.
I thought that Plex was about sharing your movie collection with your close circle, which is exactly what is happening when friends and I hop on to watch one of our movies together. It’s a lot easier than us all having to come together to ones house
Just discovered that this feature is missing on my iPad and iPhone as my app updated in the background a couple days ago. My son and I use this feature every week. Super disappointed that it’s been removed. Please reconsider. Please add this feature back as soon as possible.

Pretty gross how blatantly you’re ditching the customers who got you to where you are just to try to become yet another useless streaming hub.

It’s actually annoying. My sound libraries are not music they are shows (episodes of Big Finish Doctor Who) and I want them in the same app as my other shows.
Here to BEG for this feature to not go away entirely. I use it to watch movies with friends and family long distance where we use film to connect. Using it right now with my fiance while we’re away from one another. PLEASE don’t take this away.
I have no problem finding other solutions if this doesn’t stay. I vote with my wallet, I don’t lay down and die for the sake of loyalty to a company that doesn’t want to keep up good features that people use.
To reiterate, I’ll absolutely tell everyone considering a service like this to stay the ■■■■ away. I’m tired of seeing good companies obsess over revenue when they have a perfectly cromulent product that more and more people use already. ■■■■ your greedy bullshit.
