I was hoping someone could explain the difference between Cine21 and Freebase? I’ve read the Wiki but I’m still confused. Why are both options? How do you turn one off? Why can you select each as a selection within each? I’m so confused.
Cine21 is for Korean language metadata source (http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/PlexNine_PMS_ScannerAgent#Cine21), if you don’t need any meta in Korean I suggest ignoring it.
Set your primary meta agent set it to freebase. You can choose not to use an agent by unchecking in the Media Manager’s preference section. The way the scanner agents work is that they are priority based with the top most one with the highest priority. The lower ranking ones will only be used if the higher scanner agent could not find any meta.
Cine21 is included in the freebase and vice versa to give you more options. For example, if you want English metadata for movies produced not in Korean, but want Korean meta for Korean movies, you would use freebase as the primary meta agent and then have cine21 active but below freebase.
Thanks for explaining this. I guess I'm just confused because Cine21 and Freebase are both listed on the left and it's not immediately apparent how to simply ignore (or deselect) either. If, say, I uncheck all the additional agents within Cine21 and close the window, when I reopen it, one still remains selected.
Is the proper way to configure for most English users to only check the Freebase agent within Cine21 and then select whichever additional agents in the Freebase section?
For English use the Freebase as your Primary Meta Agent when you are setting up your sections, not Cine21. Which set of meta data agents that get used is determined by which Primary Meta Agent you choose when setting up the sections.
In the Plex Media Manager preferences what you can do is change the order of the priorities and whether to use an agent in the Metadata Agent settings. So you can ignore Cine21 Metadata Agent altogether as you will not use it as a Primary Meta Agent in the sections.
I know its a bit confusing with having Freebase and Cine21 inside each others Metadata Agent sections, but the reason is to give more flexibility in choosing where to get your meta from.
