Plex Alexa with AAC/MP4/M4A files

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112
Player Version#: Plex for Alexa (with Echo 3rd Gen)

MP4/AAC/M4A files do not play on Alexa. I’ve seen this mentioned in various places in the past, but do not know if it is current known behavior. They seem to “cue” up fine, the Plex Alexa agent & server finds the right file and says it will play the right one. But it doesn’t play. I’ve done conversions (and changed metadata to get):

01 - Eric Clapton - Journeyman - Pretending.m4a: ISO Media, MP4 Base Media v1 [IS0 14496-12:2003]
13 - Eric Clapton - Journeyman - Pretending After.m4a: ISO Media, MP4 v2 [ISO 14496-14]
14 - Eric Clapton - Journeyman - Pretending After After.mp3: Audio file with ID3 version 2.3.0, contains:MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 64 kbps, 44.1 kHz, Stereo

‘Alexa ask plex to play song …’ - All successfully recognized by plex as song titles, but only the mp3 plays. All play fine using the web interface of course.

I’d hate to have to re-encode the m4a’s in my library from one lossy codec to another. So I’d like to know if it’s a bug, or something I have wrong with the file format, or a permanent feature.
