I wish Plex had more fine grain control of live tv compared to say recording. I would like for plex to record from the HDHomerun extend in the highest quality possible but have a different setting for live tv. I can’t seem to get plex set up right, so it won’t use some or all of the CPU on my synology. When it records, it takes the transcoded stream from the HDHomerun. When I can doing live tv, it still wants to do some kind of transcoding. I can change all kinds of settings in the client app, but it still wants to do some transcoding on the server.
I have noticed that when I use other apps that will use the HDhomerun extend for streaming live tv, the apps have settings to take the stream right off the HDHomerun extend and there is no more transcoding. I wish for live tv, Plex would do this.
