Hello, been using the Api for a little bit now. I would be interested in a better way to query IMDB information. Its somewhat ‘hacky’ now, where I have to call ALL movies, then use the mediaURI and call each one individually to get their IMDB info.
Been debating about just just spinning up the DB, and circumventing the API all together since I need to do that a couple of thousand times.
Is there any plans on updating the Plex API in general?

Good suggestion, just installed it, and same thing… Lack of IMDB data.
I set the export of movie information to level ‘level 666’.
If you have any other suggestions i’m open to them, or happy to share a row of data if you would like to validate.
I can’t confirm this. The link to the relevant IMDb page is contained in the column ‘MetaDB Link’ This link has the IMDb ID of the movie.
That’s about everything IMDb-related you can get from the Plex database.
And it will only work if the movie has been matched with the ‘Plex Movie’ agent.
If you have been using TheMoviedatabase, all you’ll get is the link to the record on the TMDB.
Switching the primary metadata agent of your library afterwards won’t change this. The metadata agent is linked to the movie record in the Plex DB and won’t change unless you remove the movie and add it ‘as new’ (e.g. after performing the Plex Dance or deleting the whole library and re-creating it.)

Yes, there is a column called ‘MetaDB Link’, but you are correct I am using “TheMoviedatabase” as my agent, and it uses their ID’s not IMDB’s. I switched the agent to Plex movie, but however it stays the same. It makes sense that I would need to delete everything, and rerun to see this change.
That being said to relink all 1400+ movies I own is a chore. I’ll probably do it, just so it works…
This all being said, don’t you feel like this is a valid enhancement request? Plex should store this as an additional row of data.
Deleted everything, and re-imported using the ‘Plex movie’ agent… Out of 1400 movies, it only had a couple of matches. Makes sense why I chose the other agent way back when.
Just forget I said anything… Really disappointing.
Please disregard this enhancement, it is not worth using this agent.
