Regarding the Plex API, I am putting together an automation system based on CQC and would like to see about controlling Plex through it. I don’t need direct player control, but I would love to be able to poll the clients for what is currently playing. I read through the API doc (http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/HTTP_API/Control) and did not see anything related to what I am looking for. So I figured that I would ask here. Thanks!
That sort of functionality is not currently available via the Plex API. The devs have stated that it is something that they intend to add as part of other plans but there is no public time frame for that or what the API commands will look like.
ahh. that’s ok, i can just automate the system so that we know Plex is playing (vs Netflix or something else) and wait until that functionality exists. thanks for the answer!
