I should also note, if I enter my synologys IP address on my phone, computer or through the TV’s browser, it does go to the Plex generic tv page. When I set the DNS Of the tv to my nas IP, my tv says no internet.

@oloose download python. extract zip and the tarball open powershell, cd to webhtmls folder and run python -m SimpleHTTPServer 80 that will run a simple http server in that folder, open another powershell and cd/chdir to opt/plexdns “from extracted plex-dns.tar.gz” edit plexdns.conf with notepad change the 192.168.1.153 to the ip of your pc. now change your tv’s DNS to the ip of your pc. if you get stuck you can message me on google hangouts https://hangouts.google.com/group/T4EwJRzQZGvZ4Kor1

So app works great but has some flaws, everything you will throw at it will be transcoded unfortunately. I’ve been searching around and there may be a fix, it comes down to profiles. Encoding profiles are written so plex knows on what the device can handle. These can be found in //Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Profiles
Now I’ve read some posts where they add lines to the .xml line that their device is using and tweak it to say there device can indeed handle direct play or say h.265 files. Question on what exact profile would this bootlegged app for panasonic tv’s be running off of?
I’m in the same boat as @merve04. Since everything needs to be transcoded, I just can’t watch anything as it keeps buffering (I initially thought it had to be uploaded and then downloaded). Would be great if this could be tweaked so transcribing is not needed…
@merve04 Are you able to share any progress you make/may have made on this subject?
Thanks all
Yes @ClosestStorm, I just tried. I obviously need internet for the app to start, but once started, I disabled internet access for the DNS / plex server and I can access content, but it keeps buffering every so often, so it looks like a transcribing issue…
One thing is probably different on my setup than most is my media is stored on a ZFS raid, which uses more memory, but then you’d also expect this to affect other video players (doesn’t happen when watching from plex web app on chrome or via VLC on direct play)
@lolouk44 tried setting transcode option as make my cpu hurt? iv’e also got my tv connecting to 5gz wireless insead of the mixed signal 2ghz/5ghz signal
Hi @ClosestStorm, I’m wired so there will be no issues with bandwidth or interferences here…
Maybe @merve04 is on to something with the profiles?
Now that sounds really cool!
I’ve tried a few things I read through this thread but no luck yet.
Is there a summary of what’s possible for each Panasonic/software?
I have a Panasonic Viera TC-L50E60, software 2.734. I don’t have the Firefox browser loaded on the TV, but I was able to download the Panasonic IPTV developer app (both HTML5 and Ajax-CE), but the URL I entered gave me an error about the server not being available.
If anybody has instructions for newbies that would be great.
Thanks.
@domperignon3 you can actually install it on that model the dns method I’ve come up with is for the 4K tv’s, download GitHub - ClosestStorm/PlexTVFirefoxOS: PlexTV App for FirefoxOS
and enable dev mode on tv “https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox_OS_for_TV/How_to_connect_WebIDE_to_TV_(VIErA)” any trouble just drop me message on hangouts.
I have some days off in a week or so, then I can take a look at the app again. There possibly is something wrong with the manifest file or so that’s causing the app to not use the whole screen.
Getting rid of this workaround is probably a plus for everyone
Thanks @ClosestStorm ,
Without being aware of this I applied an update last night as I was a couple of versions behind.
I also added a profile for Panasonic TV based on this blog but as soon as I tried it buffered (I now know it meant transcribed) within 15 sec.
I probably have the wrong FriendlyName as I only change it to “58DX700_Series” and there might be something else. But then I only tried the Plex app, I did not try to play content via the TV’s built in DLNA app.
I’ll keep testing a few things…
@shippi looked at the manifests iv’e tried every thing least what I can find in Mozilla archive managed to find Panasonic get Panasonic Gaia tarball here here http://www.unipf.jp/dl/EUIDTV17 list of files modified here http://www.unipf.jp/dl/EUIDTV17/gaia.html but can’t seem install npm packages always errors . I might migrate to Emby that works great only few bugs.
