Plex app keeps breaking; requires frequent reinstall on Big Sur

Player Version#: 4.54.4

New laptop. Running Big Sur. Every other week or so, I go to access Plex Media Server and it won’t connect. When I check my machine, the app appears as broken (grey circle w/ slash icon in applications folder). No idea why! Perhaps it’s an auto-update glitch? In order to get it working, I need to download and install the app again and then it works fine. Any ideas what’s going wrong?
