After updating my iMac to MacOS 11.2.3 Plex Media Server will no longer launch. I can see the symbol very briefly in my top bar then it goes away. I do not see anything running via the Activity Monitor. Nothing to dump since the server simply will not start. I’ve tried rebooting my iMac several times. It does not change the outcome.
I am also having the same problem. Once I updated my 2015 iMac to Big Sur to 11.2.3 with the latest of PMS it will not open it just flashes for a brief moment then closes out and disappears… Any suggestions?
Same issue here. Tried complete uninstall, all support files deleted, clean. Unzip, move app to Applications, double click to launch. All I see is Plex icon in the bar up top, but the browser flashes quickly and only displays empty Plex logo page. No app seems to be running. Looking at the log file see no error messages. No idea what to do next. Tried it a few times, delete, install, clean. Repeat. Even deleted supported devices in my Plex account to see if that helps. Nothing.
Some more data points. I initially installed and have been using PMS on MacBook Pro, years ago, a few OS releases ago. Then upgraded through a couple of OS releases, no issues at all. PMS simply stopped working one day, about 2 months ago, no change in Mac OS at the time, nothing software wise, really. PMS simply died. That was still High Sierra. PMS worked just fine with that OS for at least a couple of years. I tried all sorts of things to make it work, nothing did. I just upgraded to Big Sur 2 days ago hoping this will allow me to install and run PMS again. Same exact problem. So, it is not the hardware, it is not the OS. It is Plex, no matter what the excuse is. Let’s not blame Big Sur, my installation of PMS died under High Sierra when nothing has changed on my end.
Behavior I see. Clean prior install. Move PMS app to Applications folder, start PMS. App seems to start, is visible in Activity Monitor and you see an icon in the top bar. Browser page pops up, one can almost see some images for a split second, and then app goes to blank page with a Plex logo mode, and dies. Since this is a new install, after all prior files have been deleted, one expects Plex to go into Setup, but this is where it falters. No obvious error messages appear in the log. This is repeatable.
