Plex app on Bravia - Please check Internet Connection

Server Version#: 1.13.4.5271-200287a06 (running on Synology) Hardwired network.

Player Version#: Various.

Starting Plex app on Bravia results in an error: ‘Please check your internet connection’

Diagnostics report everything good.

Other apps connect fine to the internet e.g. YouTube.

Desktop app connects fine to Plex. Browser connects fine also.

I can only assume it’s maybe related to authentication somehow. This following the the previous issue of ‘something went wrong…’

Please help! I’m about to give up on Plex altogether; it seems to have become very unstable of late.

The Opera Plex app is no longer offered by Sony. They have shut down the app store for these TV models.

All you can do is to get a client device and attach it to the TV by HDMI cable.
FireTV, ChromeCast, nVidia Shield etc…

May as well use a laptop I guess…

This will consume more power,
will make more noise,
and you can’t lean back and use a conventional remote control.

Well, that depends. But, yes, it is not as convenient.

Hopefully Sony come to their senses and put the app on the Sony store.
