PLEX BUG: Please amend the manner in which Plex sorts numbers.

Example: To sort the James Bond films, one might change their ‘Sort Titles’ to James Bond 1, James Bond 2 etc etc. This causes issues, however, because Plex places James Bond 11 before James Bond 2. It sorts digit by digit, not as a number.

Of course, there are ways to get around this; label a through z, for example, will circumvent the issue. It would be much simpler, and consistent, however, to change the way Plex sorts numbers.

Many thanks,
Harry

Sort Title is best used with the year in all cases:

File name: Dr. No (1962).xxx
Sort Title: James Bond 1962 <— it’s real easy 'cause the year is clearly visible right on the page you’re working in.

You can change James Bond to just Bond, or 007, but whatever you do name all your Bonds the same in the Sort Title Field - just change the year. In the rare instance two moves release in the same year:

Octopussy (1983)
James Bond 1983 05 <— the month - also clearly visible.

Never Say Never Again (1983)
James Bond 1983 07

Welcome to the forum - and you will find that user requests for Plex to change things that have been in place for years fall on deaf ears no matter how much sense they make to you or anyone else. You can wish for it and I can wish it starts raining money - either of which will likely produce a lot of disappointment when it never happens.

If the Sort Title field were strictly a numeric field, they could do that. But since it is an alphanumeric field, the only real choice is to sort it alphabetically, and when numbers are sorted alphabetically, 11 comes before 2.

All you have to do is pad your numbers with zeroes - “James Bond 01” “James Bond 02” “James Bond 03” etc. If the number of items goes to 3 digits, use “001” etc.
