Hi All,
My plex was working perfectly. No problems. I then moved to a different apartment, and now my Plex server is unable to play most videos. This is the error I receive:
“Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install.”
Any idea what could be causing this? It can’t be a hardware issue because my Plex Server was able to play the exact same videos just last week, before I moved apartments. I haven’t made any other changes.
My Plex Server is running on FreeNAS, but haven’t made any changes on that either. I am trying to play the files locally, not remote.
Could this be a Plex bug?
To add, I’m running Plex Server v1.3.3.3148
I would try a different server version (rollback).
Post your server logs so we can take a look.
Please see attached RAR file with all logs.
In trying to figure it out, I must have done something because now I can’t even access the Plex Server locally on my wired computer, but I am able to on my phone (via wireless). Nonetheless, still cannot playback any videos.
Someone else running a Linux distro had issues when they moved. Can’t remember if it was ChuckPA or another ninja that solved it though. I’m not a NAS or Linux guy so I’m not much help with those devices/OS.
I ran into this on my fedora 25. Seems like the new transcoder has issues now. Can provide logs if necessary. One thing I noticed is it fails with tvheadend streams but when manually import same recording it’s fine.
I uninstalled and reinstalled PMS. That seemed to do the trick. I can play any video so far with no problems. Strange that moving apartments would require a re-install.
