FYI… newest version not in Plex Repository.?.
today, the New Server Version Message appeared as usual upon starting google chrome app (google chrome browser ‘app’ window) (web client) asking me to ‘install manually’ (download, copy to server, ssh in, update using zypper (openSuSE) or ‘skip this version’.
But… Having recently added the Plex Repo, I thought, for the second time, I would just # zypper up plexmediaserver, but noooo. The Repo does Not have the new 18.2.xxx version in it. Why?
How can there be a ‘new version available’ and it Not be in the repo?
Seems it would be in the repo (download dir) first… No?
Am I missing something?
currently installed version: 1.18.1.2019-c186313fe x86_64
currently available version: 1.18.2.2029 (Not in Repo).
How about because the PMS checks a different location than the actual repository. So one location can be updated and the other not. Voila, you get the results you see.
that’s an answer, it’s even correct, but it’s not a good one.
it make NO sense that people as good as those involved with the development and support of a product as GOOD as PMS would not be ‘smart enough’ as to publish (copy to, compile to) 2 directories at the same time. further, it seem they would be wise enought to symlink the 2 ‘download’ directories. a week delay on the repo is, bad.
just saying…
and again, thanks for the great server software!
