I’ve been using Plex for around a year now with PMS on a Windows unit and Plex app on iPhone and iPad in the house.
Yesterday I bought the Apple TV and figured I could try the Plexconnect solution.
Sadly, I have reached the limits of technical ability in trying to set the unit and PC. I’m struggling with the verbiage to be honest around a Certificate error in the python window.
Is there a laymans guide to help me through the steps (I tried the langri.sh site and that’s where I had my epic fail).
Or should I be taking the ATV back and getting something smiler to set up like the Roku?

Plexconnect is very nice. However, it requires a bit of patience and tenacity not only to setup, but to keep running (meaning the obvious fear that Apple could kill it). To that end, I suggest a Roku for the easiest out of the box, worry free experience. I'm not the biggest fan of Roku's Plex interface, but it certainly does the job.

Great code work, just wish I was as technically adept.
I’m assuming you either need the text that is displayed in the Python window or some sort of log export to be able to help me any further?
I used to program PLCs so in theory I should be better at this

The ATV is running firmware 5.3 if it makes any difference, should I be upgrading this first?

The certificate is not where is should be... according to you settings.cfg file.
Is that the certificates txt file? If so, it is definitely in the C:/ folder?
Do I need to move the file?
So sorry for the dumb questions. I’ve read similar threads on this forum and just don’t seem to be able to make sense of some of this.

Did you create a trailers.pem file following the the installation instructions? That has to be in the certificates folder.

Though I recommend in reading the other sections as well...

Ok last question for clarity. Do I have to create the PEM file using the iPhone configuration utility, etc? If so will try working through all the steps tomorrow evening.

Ps can I screw the ATV or PC up by doing these certificate steps?
In short...
- create a certificate using openSSL.
- install it on your aTV using iPhone Utility
It needs a while... follow the instructions.
