Plex creates a list of movie's I am missing in a collection

Plex will automatically look at your movie & TV Show’s to see what you are missing in the movie collection or TV series.

This will help all the movie/show collectors to know what they need to add to their collection so they can fill in the gaps without the manual effort of looking each one up.

With the current collection feature Plex already knows through third party databases what is missing so why not expose that in a separate menu.

An example would be if I own Die Hard 1 and Die Hard 2 but not Die Hard 3. Plex should flag that Die Hard 3 is missing and call that out to me in some way.

The next step generation feature would be for Plex to tell me where I can find the missing movie. Either through the DVR function or leveraging a third party database like Yidio https://www.yidio.com/) which lets you look up any movie to see where it is streaming right now.

There is already a request to show missing tv show episodes.

So let’s restrict this thread here to missing movies within a collection.

Good suggestion - this could be done like the ‘related movie’ list at the bottom of the page - i.e ‘other movies available in this collection’

To show this for all Collections, under Movies>Collections> add the option to select:

Existing
Missing
All

Missing could be displayed as grayed out. Possibly configured to optionally pass this off to your chosen Trakt list.

So…another incredibly useful and simple request sitting in the dustbin for a year and a half.

But hey, I opened up Plex a while back to a huge catalog of streaming crap I never wanted that took a non-trivial amount of effort to excise. Thanks! :neutral_face:

I’d be happy if it simply showed:

the number of movies I had in collection / the number of movies available in the collection.

I can research it then to see if the missing movies are something I want to chase down.

I am looking forward to see this feature ASAP. I hope plex developers can see here. Collections are very important. I want to keep my achieve always updated.

There is a feature I’m missing in the collection of movies and TV shows and that is movies/episodes/seasons that are present in the actual collection but is missing from disk.

Not that it has been deleted or so, but just this is what’s included in this collection, you have 3 items collected but you have toggled on the feature to see the missing items too, yet to be collected, and these are shown up in a like uncollected manner.
Less filled out, a bit more vague in the poster or something.

I like movies and such but I’m no nerd who knows every single piece in every franchise that has been released.
This would help me greatly to see what I’m missing out on.

In addition to this i would like to see a chronicle collection for example if i want to see all the marvel movies, but where do i begin? By year? Or is there another path to take?
For the marvel i have asked ChatGPT about what order to see them in and it’s not sorted by year in that chronicle.

So these two things would be awesomely if plex server could handle for me automatically, not just for marvel but for everything wherever there is a chronicle to follow. A guidance for all us noobs out there.
