Option to show MISSING seasons and episodes

I have access to a friends shared library and every time I go into a episode "folder" I have to carefully look if there are missing ones before starting to watch anything(I hate starting to watch a show, to only find out that there are missing episodes in-between them all).

It would be so much easier is there was an option in Plex, that the client could turn on/decide if he wants to show missing episodes ("Make missing episodes visible")

The missing episodes could be just listed as normal ones that are not missing, but un-selectable and faded out so the user doesn't have to navigate(click) unnecessary much(not to disturb the navigation).

They should contain the correct name and ect, acquired from the same source the other episodes where identified from. These sources already know how many episodes are in what season, there name and etc.!

This way, one could very quickly identify missing episodes browsing a TV show(and even help, one decide to not start watching a show, until all episodes and seasons where present).

Event better would be if it could just be handled from the Plex server, so the client wouldn't need to be updated for this function to be implemented.

I tried to look, but I couldn't find any request for this feature.

I doubt that I am be alone in thinking this is a extremely functional feature, that all(a great deal at least) of Plex users would appreciate immensely in there daily interaction with there Plex client

If you like this idea, please up-vote it, by pressing the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Thank you.

I like this idea because I've sometimes by accident watched an episode that skipped over one that wasn't on the server.

That's great. But you forgot to vote, which is the important part ;)

I *THINK* Sickbeard does this for you:

That's just such a counter-productive comment!

I don't see the point.

In theory I could use 3rd party tools to solve everything... But I really like using Plex. That is why I took the time to write down something I have been thinking about for quite some time now.

As you can read, it's just a request for a practical feature. If you don't feel you want it, then you don't have to up-vote it(but please do :) ).

Thank you.

I know ;) That is why I was the first one to comment in that thread.

Who would have guessed that the same request would come twice in such a short timespan :)

But you are welcome to up-vote both(tho I feel like they should be merged, to not waste/divide votes unnecessary).

Thank you.

A really good inspiration how this should look when implemented, is the Chrome plugin "Transmogrify for Plex"(only works inside Google Chrome browser).

I know it does a lot of other things as well. But I only use it for the "... missing seasons and episodes view"(OK I admit, I like the IMDB and RT functions as well ;) ).

Remember to up-vote if you agree(how could you not ;) )

I miss a "Management feature" as well.

Especially the mentioned missing episodes! We often miss that we are skipping an episode accidentally .

But a dashboard where i. E. unmatched items, unknown streams or such things are showing up would Be cool (and helpfull !)

This would be awesome.

have you tried transmogrify https://forums.plex.tv/topic/99209-transmogrify-for-plex-a-browser-extension-that-adds-features-to-plexweb/

Yes I have. Check post nr. #7  :)

That is what I'm currently using as a workaround.

But native support from Plex server/client support would be the right way to go(I think).

Fingers crossed.

Those workarounds doesn’t help much as soon as you use something other then plex web (my episodes are downloaded using sonarr (and previously Sickbeard), but once in a while an episode goes missing and there is no point of watching it when you’ve seen the next one :frowning:

I completely agree with you.
This feature request can’t be implemented fast enough

I would very much like a feature like this, but it MUST be handled on the server side so it is consistently displayed to ALL client types. I access my Plex server from PS4’s, Android’s, PC’s, Amazon Fire’s, Samsung TV’s, even a Blackberry, so requiring some sort of plugin to provide this capability just isn’t feasible.

I would even go so far as allowing the Plex server manager to adjust what color with which the missing episodes will display. A default “greyed out” would be nice, but give us an option to perhaps “red out” or other such color. Or maybe even instead of greying out an icon, the text for the missing episode could be made a user-definable color (like bright red for example), in that way they stick out even if you’re using list view instead of icon view.

Good idea.
But remember to up-vote the first post, to show your support for the idea

I did!

great idea. voted.

Awesome idea and it should be very minimal effort to implement.

This feature would be very helpful, especially for shows that are still being made. It will help owners know they need to add X season to their library (when available). Going one step further, it would be very nice to have a report run against your library that will show you which episodes are missing from the shows in your library.

I was coming here to request this feature and saw someone had beat me to it. In my house, my wife and I are always wondering how many episodes are left in a season that is currently airing on TV. This would be a great server feature which you could then enable per client if you wished.

Then, on the client, it would show missing or upcoming episodes. In the UI, these could be displayed faded out (and maybe unclickable?) and show something like “Airing 8/3/16” or “Aired 5/4/16” (for missing eps).

Upon further thought, you might have to make two options: “Show missing episodes for latest season only” for those that only want to see missing eps for the current season they are watching, and then “Show all missing episodes for all seasons” for those that want to see everything.
