I recently used the Cast feature of Android TV to cast a movie from the Plex App on my Android Tablet to a relative’s Sony Android TV.
Overall it worked great !! However, I like to monitor remote connections in Plex Dash to see if any part of the content is transcoding and ensure the PMS Server is humming along nicely. Again. everything worked and played fine, but I did notice one anomaly in Plex Dash.
When I started the movie on my tablet, Plex Dash immediately showed the connection and the expected details about the stream. However, as soon as I cast to the TV, Plex Dash reported that there was nothing playing… the “This is the sound of nothing playing” message. The server graphs continued to show resource utilization on the server (CPU, Memory and bandwidth), and the movie played on the TV without issue.
I tried Plex Dash from two different devices to be sure of what I was experiencing. The results were the same on both.
