I have a lot of videos recorded on my GoPro in my Home Videos section of Plex. They are all in a folder called Events, with a folder for each year, and a sub folder for each day.
Plex has grouped 164 videos from various dates (and therefore folders) as being parts of one file. I have no idea why it did this. I did the ‘Split Items’ option, but now all of the videos have the name and thumbnail of one single video. I am not going to manually correct them all. I am not even completely sure how to tell what all files are affected because I used the Split option as suggested in the forums for many other users with issues like this. Nobody indicated that the videos would all inherit the thumbnail and title of the one video.
I would appreciate any help. I am very technical and I have been able to get a full list of the files from the log. Looking at the log, I suspect that it has done this with videos from my video camera as well.
How can I fix the ones with the wrong info?
How can I prevent this grouping in the future for Home Videos?
I went to some of the files that were incorrectly matched again after I split them and i did a Refresh on the file (with the “…” menu) and it has updated the metadata on a lot of the files. I will continue looking at the files from the logs through Plex and doing this Refresh.
However, I still need to prevent this in the future. Any help would be appreciated.
The files names for GoPro videos are always like this:
GOPR3252
GOPR3253
GOPR3254
Those are three separate videos. The next video recorded would be GOPR3255
If you record one video that gets too large, then the files in that group will go GOPR3252, GP013252, GP023252, GP033252, ect
The videos from my video camera that are being seen as matches with each other are DSC_2990, DSC_2991, DSC_2993 for videos recorded after each other, not in a group.
I would not want to share the entire log (for privacy reasons), but I am sure I can get you some snips of important areas. Not sure how well you know the logs, but if you give me some key words of lines to look for I have no problem getting them.
Home Videos folder is set to the correct type. See screenshot.
I wonder if there is a config file i can modify for the Scanner or Agent to make it no longer stack/group videos in Home Videos.
