Plex.direct url vs. custom server access URLs

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: 4.8.4
OS: Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS

Hi,

i´m a little bit desperate because i don´t understand the difference of the two connection types.

I set up a custom server access URL and all iOS devices catch this URL just fine, browsers and webapps also. But no Android client whatsoever. All Android clients connect to the plex.direct URL which has a different IP.

I know this is kind of uncommon, but i have a second IP set up, all traffic to my plex host will be tunneled through this second IP. Why that? I will try to explain with a link:

https://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/Double_Paid_Traffic/en

My server sits in a german datacenter which don´t use a direct telekom peering.

Dows anybody know how i could manage to get my android clients connect directly through my custom server access URL?

If you have any questions, feel free to ask

I have my plex running through a reverse proxy so it can only be accessed externally via my custom URL. Remote access is turned off for me. None of my clients have any issues and I am an Android guy.

On the network settings page of your server do you have your full server name such as https://plex.example.com:32400/

Hi, thanks for your reply!
Yes, i have the Full url of the host set up in settings, but ist is still set up to be reachable from the outside. I will shut that down and try again

Thank you
