How do you turn on Discovery for Home users on my plex. I only see it for main account holder of my plex server. I use my main account for admin setup then have myself as a user as well as others.
I think it only works for the main user.
Correct
oh ok ok thanks for the reply, will that be a future update. seems like all users should have this ability.
Plex never reveals it’s roadmaps, but when said, this is for now a Beta, so every request/feedback gets evaluated, But that doesn’t automatically means it’s put on the roadmap
Ok, I opted in. I don’t have any subscription services. I was hoping it would just show me what is on my local media and the PLEX free channels. But nope. It shows me content on all sorts of services that I told PLEX not to list because I don’t have them. So… how do I turn this off?
you currently cannot disable it. there’s a lengthy thread and a feature suggestion to push such an option.
side note: the streaming service “selection” isn’t filtering out the services – it’s just prioritizing which ones you want to see first… so if you select none, you still get the full view.
hi all. discover and watchlist working fine on my mac but the apple tv player isn’t picking up anything and there’s nothing in the watchlist. i’ve tried to obvious stuff but i’m still missing something. thanks! /guy
Not sure I get your question…
Plex on your Apple TV shows the watchlist but it’s empty (while you see content added to it on Plex Web or the desktop apps)?
Is that Apple TV linked to the same Plex account?
tks for response, you have the gist of it. i only have one plex account and things like playlists and video libraries propagate over from the desktop. i’ve force quit the media server and rebooted the mac and i’ve re-linked the plex app on atv a dozen times and rebooted the apple tv. the /discover [beta]/ menu item is just not showing up. i’ve added a few dozen shows to the watchlist on the desktop and nothing shows up when i click /watchlist/ on the atv. /guy
Ok… so the entire section and related feature are missing.
What version of Plex do you have installed on your Apple TV? You need version 8.1 or newer to use this feature.
aha! v8.0. but the app store usually pushes the updates. i guess i can try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. will report back. /guy
that did it! first time i’ve had to manually install an app to get an updated version. now on v8.1 and the discover tag is there.
can’t thank you enough mate! in order to use the watchlist i need the items on a device and not the desktop and now i have it. tks agn, /guy
Same question. The plex app on my Apple TV is giving me “Discover is Currently Unavailable” in the Discover pinned tab. It’s working on my PC and my iPhone.
Never mind. I had to delete the app and reinstall it even though I had the 8.1 version.
JUST discovering this myself. Sigh. Wanted to have a go with it, but I’m using Managed Users as discreet signins for each screen/device as they are generally each associated with a different member of my household. Unless this restriction is changed, it will be a zero value add for me. I understand this feature is likely why Plex has never integrated with the Google TV aggregation, and I’ve seen several online reviews indicating Plex Discovery is superior to Google TV in this regard. Just not for me unless and until managed users can take advantage of it.
The Discovery tab disappeared from my Windows version.
Use the hosted web app.
