Hello, I new to PLEX. But I’m using SONOS already for a very long time. I always used to access my NAS music library using the standard SMB1 connection: worked perfect. But on my QNAP this was disabled with the last update for security reasons. OK of course.
So I turned to PLEX. Had problems playing certain files directly from the SONOS app. So I bought a Plex Pass to make steaming possible. Did not solve anything: still some files play perfectly, others give a message "connection broken. Playing directly from desktop or tablet/phone: same problem.
Now did I work in a software testing team and I started to look for specific similarities in the problematic files. Cid not take very long: FLAC files don’t play, mp3 files do. I can’t find any information on this problem on the forum: can you direct me to a solution?
I’m using a QNAP TS233 NAS 1.28.2, SONOS series ! (7 devices), media library with som 50.000 files, Windows 10 (latest updates installed) and Android phone/tablet.
Sorry. I’m not aware of any generic issues with FLAC streaming. I’m also not familiar with the Sonos app and if there are any restrictions the Plex Media Server cannot deal with when streaming media to it.
The related support section doesn’t seem to mention any restriction in that area (nor a known issue)
UPDATE. The problem lasted for a while, but gradually it seemed to solve itself. At the moment I can play all files from the NAS, including FLAC. Nothing changed in the network or equipment…
Only thing I can think of is that PLEX maybe needed a lot of time to get a good index of the 50.000 files and kept the NAS busy to a point connections started failing. During high traffic on the network connection sometimes still gets lost, but it always restores. Ik loos like this issue closed itself…
