Hi all
I am brand new to all of this, so the answer might be elementary and just eluding me. If so I apologize, but would still very much like to know how to make it work.
Background story is that i have ripped all my CD to uncompressed FLAC files using MediaMonkey. These are all placed on a QNAP NAS, and have been used by my sonos system. Works like a charm, and still does.
However I would very much like to listen to my music when I’m in the office or on the road. For this I have installed plex server Version 0.9.15.3 on the NAS and set up the libraries. Plex has gone through the libraries, indexed them and even in some cases found some covers I didn’t have. Everything seems good
But now the problem. When I log on the the server using the web interface, none of the files will play. I browse to an artist, select a release and request the program to play the tracks. Nothing happens… Then after a couple of seconds it skips to the next track on the disc, stays a few seconds, and then skips to the next. This repeats until it has tried all the tracks.
In order to see if it might just be a problem with my browser and/or some missing component on my laptop, I added the plex server to the sonos system and authenticated it. After the authentication, plex is registered on sonos but sonos is also unable to play any tracks through the plex service. Using the sonos interface, I select plex, browse to an artist, select release. But then when i select a track, it is as if sonos/plex sees it as a folder and opens up a blank area instead of asking if/when I want to play the selected track.
Can someone please point me in the right direction? What check-mark/setting am I missing? I know the files are ok as sonos will play them just fine when pointing straight to the NAS, so why won’t plex play them?
Thank you
