Not sure how long this has been going on, possibly a day or two, but Plex is being very inconsistent in what it plays. I will try to summarise thusly: I’ve had no issues playing anything on my Nvidia Shield, which direct plays everything. However, for remote users, I’ve been told it either loads forever without playing, or comes up saying “conversion failed, the transcoder exited due to an error”. FWIW if I try and transcode on my Shield or browser, the whole thing stops working, and this seems to include when I go back to trying to direct play at original quality, though this is inconsistent - I managed to get it working again on my Shield pretty quickly but browser is still unresponsive. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, rolling back the version of the server being used, using ProcessLasso to restart the transcoder, etc. but nothing seems to change the situation.
This may have something to do with the fact that I’ve started using a VPN as of a few days ago, though I can confirm that the server was working normally for users for the first day or two that I started using it. I have noticed that despite using split tunneling, and excluding Plex, I cannot access the server settings until I turn it off. However, whether the VPN is off or on, I’m having the same issues - I hesitate to say this is the culprit for these reasons, but this is the only thing I can think of that has changed lately.
