Plex DVR trial

Long time user of open source DVR solutions (MythTV TVheadend Kodi). Finally found the plugin for Kodi and also OpenPHT. Front ends are either Linux based x86 or Odroid aarch64.

Would like to try the DVR functions of Plex but don’t know how well they work. Don’t want to spend money on something that falls short. Currently use Schedules Direct for XMLTV grabbers so I don’t have an issue with subscription if Plex DVR works. Many DVR solutions claim to work but fail the test.

Plex DVR

  • Schedule programs
  • Expire OTA media based on first in drive space. And ability to NOT expire some recordings that want to be saved
  • Server side EPG details
  • Client side EPG details

I suppose. Sounds like a bad business plan. Maybe a bean counter or suit reads this.

that’s what I would say, plus the developers need to eat… so think of it as as buying them a cup of coffee.
