How can you call it a "DVR" function when so many features such as Record are missing?

I know, wrong forum but since I canceled my useless Plex Pass I can no longer post in the “DV*” forum.

Why does the DVR function only show programming info for the next 40 minutes?
Why no ability to Record (as in dvR) via the Roku app? (Apparently “Roku” is a dirty word but an answer would be greatly appreciated.)
Why do I have to wait until a program has finished recording before I can watch it?
If Tivo and others can do it, and has for many years, why can’t Plex figure it out?

I don’t know but Plex has committed to providing a regular grid EPG – no ETA however.

Because they don’t have enough developers to to update all the clients with everything all the time. They’ve been updating clients over time with this functionality. Presumably Roku (a very popular platform) will get this capability too.

Because everyone else HAS been doing it for many years. It takes many years to catch up to everyone else is offering in the way of DVR.

Then don’t lie about what the app can and cannot do and definitely don’t release a half-baked app. Make it work right BEFORE you advertise features that it doesn’t include. Also, since Roku is so popular, you’d think Plex would want to get that right first.

Then don’t lie about what the app can and cannot do
As pointed out in your original thread, what they promote is factually true:

"“Record your favorite free HDTV digital broadcast channels right to your Plex Media Server”.

This is true and doesn’t mention anything about any particular client. This is also true: “then watch anywhere in the world!”

You misinterpreted what you read, and now you’re pissed about it. There really isn’t much else to say.

Interesting. This WAS stated on the Roku feature section as recently as this morning. ALL references to DVR functionality has since been removed from the Roku section on their site.

Here is the Google result when searching for Plex Roku DVR. Since the page update has not yet been indexed, it shows the reference to the DVR functionality that has since been removed from the Plex website.

Aha. Now I understand. Yeah, they messed up big time. Sorry about that!
