I’ve seen a couple of posts on this same subject from 2014 (this one was rather prominent: PLEXREADER: Comics, Books, PDFs ), and I wanted to put this out there again and see if there’s still significant community interest. Hopefully there is, and we can keep a bug in the dev’s ears.
I would love for Plex to support libraries of books, comic books, and documents in common formats (maybe even docx, xls, and such). The consistent interface across mobile platforms could make it a fantastic e-reading platform for my family, and it would be an easy way to backup and view the vast library of sheet music my pianist mother-in-law has. A few other services, such as Emby, already do this to some extent.
Does anyone know if there are any plans in the works for anything like this? I love Plex and am a happy Plex Pass subscriber, but this still feels like a gaping hole in the service to me.
I too would like to have ebook support. Be nice to have one platform that could do everything. It may also bring plex some new subscribers as it may open up a new market for them.
I’ve been looking for this for some time too, but I haven’t found any discussions where this has been acknowledged by a Plex team member. My use case is slightly different where I have a particular training library that mixes video lectures and PDF & RTF guides, outlines, & worksheets. Since we have the PIP ability now, it would be nice to be able to access all training content in one library interface.
You should post this under the Feature Request section. It’s been stated before that devs are more likely to develop the features that get more votes. In this section, things hit page 2, 3, and then just get lost.
