Plex Employee to Reset Server Certificate? "API rate limit exceeded" error

Stop PMS

Go into the “Cache” directory.

Delete cert-v2.p12

Now start PMS.

If you have your own certificate, which this error is indicative of.

@ChrisMNZ

Do you have your own cert ?

No I don’t - just local install.

Hi @ChuckPa I’m experiencing this issue as well, I am not running my own cert. This started right after a server update (Running Version 1.32.0.6918-6f393eda1 on Mac OS).

Am I experiencing the same issues as others, and would you be able to help?

ALL:

Please do the following:

  1. Restart PMS
  2. Give it a minute to get all confused.
  3. Stop
  4. Make a ZIP of the 'Logs" directory
  5. Upload that ZIP file here.

Thanks for the help.

@brc4ever

Got your logs… thanks.

I cleared the ‘429’ but it’s not propagated to you yet/

Plex.tv is “out to lunch”.
It’s “stuck” generating your certificate.

I’m waiting for someone to respond.

Thanks. Got it

I don’t remember setting up a custom certificate, I’m assuming Preferences.xml would contain the settings related to custom certificates as it does contain the rest and mine doesn’t have anything related to custom certificates, though I can’t get back into the server to check the UI.

Just a heads up getting the same issue. I have it installed on TrueNAS and rolling back didn’t fix the issue.

@BILLTHETURNIP

Can I get your logs please ?

Hopefully more logs help:

Pretty standard docker install. Getting image from plexinc/pms-docker. Tried turning PMS off for about 5 min, repulled images and it loops with what others have posted with:

ERROR - [CERT] PKCS12_parse failed: error:0308010C:digital envelope routines::unsupported
ERROR - [CERT] Found a certificate, but couldn’t install it.
ERROR - [CERT] PKCS12_parse failed: error:0308010C:digital envelope routines::unsupported
WARN - Crash: Crash reporting disabled
ERROR - [CERT] CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

PlexLogs4.16.zip (10.1 MB)

Tried deleting the cert-v2.p12 the errors in the logs go away but the server isnt accessible publicly. Locally does still work.
