Version 1.13.0 has been released for Plex for Windows and Plex for Mac.

  • Player: Seek bar flashing when starting track playback.

Version 1.15.1 has been released for Plex for Windows and Plex for Mac. 1.15.0 may have been a quiet release but a last moment change brought with it a requirement for a bit of code that wasnā€™t included. This annihilated playback.

Deep deep bows folks. This one is on me and itā€™s left a lasting reminder.

To install 1.15.0 start the app, wait a couple minutes, then restart it. Weā€™ll install the update then. Or, if you want to remove it immediately here are the 1.15.1 direct links:

Version 1.16.0 has been released for Plex for Windows and Plex for Mac.

In the foreground this release brings with it our free ad-supported Movies & TV on Plex. In the background our mpv integration has been updated. We hope media playback feels better to you too. :slight_smile:

Weā€™re aware of a regression preventing live tv seeking, subtitles selection, and quality selection that was introduced in 1.19. The regression is still present in 1.22.0. We recommend using Plex Web as a workaround until we resolve the issue.

Windows: no longer automatically update on Windows versions older than 10

Our 1.29.0 release is a required update for automatic update from previous application versions.

  • Windows 10 and above users on 1.29.x will continue to automatically update as normal.
  • Windows 7 and 8 users running 1.29.x will no longer be prompted to install automatic updates.
  • MacOS update handling is unchanged.

Plex for Windows player functioning on Windows 7 and 8 has been a coincidence which we canā€™t guarantee going forward.

Our 1.30.0 release will go further and restrict installation to Windows 10 and above.

Windows 7 and 8 users are strongly encouraged to update. If this isnā€™t practical for your situation, here is the 1.29.0 Windows installer which will still permit installation on Windows 7 and 8 after 1.30.0 is released.
