I am running the plex app on my Windows 10 (Pro for Workstation, version 1903), everytime I launch the app I get a tiny window/notification box popup which has to be closed before the main application window pops up on the screen.
The window is tiny, with only the log and the cross button to close it. There’s no notification/warnings and looking at the task manager just shows Plex app running with 55.8MB and no CPU usage.
When I first installed the new app it never did this and everything worked fine, so its either I have changed something or there’s been an update to the system of some kind which has caused the issue.
There’s no notifications on the initial window and the Plex app runs fine up.
Any help would be great.
Sorry if this has already been raised, I did search the forum beforehand but not knowing the exact issue my searches didn’t throw anything up similar to to the issue I am having.

I have Windows 10 running at 3840x2160 with a scaling factor, under “Scale and Layout”, set to 200%, but apparently this OS setting is not used by Plex for Windows desktop client and thus the need to set the environment variable documented above.
UPDATE: Well, turns out PLEX_SCALE_FACTOR was definitely relevant. When I set the value to 1.0 instead of 2.0, I could see the whole window. It is a prompt to update now or remind me later. Of particular interest, I chose the option to update now and it actually downgraded me from 1.3 back to 1.2.
ATTN Plex Developers: You really need to fix the scaling issue as either we cannot read the text in the client, or we cannot see the text in the popup window. Of course, “upgrading” to a lower version also needs to be fixed.
Another Update: I had the Plex client exe files (manually downloaded) for 1.2 and 1.3 in my Downloads directory…after I deleted both of them, launching the Plex client prompted me to upgrade again, and this time it actually upgraded me to 1.3 ( 1.3.1.916-1cb2c34d).
Yep, it was the a plex scale factor issue. I hadn’t set a scale factor, but I’m running a 4k display with windows scaling on. Adding the scale factor suystem variable allowed me to see the update box.
