Plex for Windows runs but no GUI appears. The Plex.exe for Windows application GUI does not display

Server Version#: v.1.41.3.9314
Player Version#: v.1.105.2.269-12a32491
No Server logs because the Plex Server is running perfectly.

The Plex.exe for Windows 11 application GUI does not display, but the process IS actually running. The Plex Server is also running on the same computer, and it is the ONLY instance of a Plex Server running on any computer in my home.

When I hover my cursor over the Plex icon on my taskbar, a very odd looking and very small windows appears (see attached image), but no GUI window and there’s nothing useful in terms of Plex functionality in the tiny window that appears just above the taskbar when I hover my cursor over the Plex app.

This is a fairly high-end gaming computer running Windows 11 Pro 24H2 with TONS of software development tools (Visual Studio 2022 + lots of function libraries), Steam games, photography related apps, image/photo processing apps, MANY music recording and playback apps, etc., etc., and EVERYTHING runs perfectly … with the one exception being Plex for Windows. Also, Plexamp runs PERFECTLY on this same computer.

I CAN launch a web browser on this same computer and connect to the Plex server from it and from two other computers in my house, and everything looks and acts perfectly. It’s ONLY when I run the Plex for Windows app on this computer that it (the GUI) does NOT display. NO ERROR messages or Error Codes are ever displayed or generated; either when I start the Plex application or when I close it, which I can do by clicking the tiny white X seen in the screenshot (above).

I have four 4K streaming media players (nVidia Shield, Roku Ultra, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Cube) and each one of them has the Plex app installed on them. When I run the Plex app on the media streaming boxes, Plex looks, acts and runs perfectly on my LG OLED 4K TV.

ONLY on my Windows 11 24H2 computer (where the Plex Server is running perfectly) does the Plex for Windows GUI NOT appear. The Plex Player (Plex.exe) AND the Plex Server and related services, are all running and listed in Task Manager (see below), but there’s no Plex for Windows GUI.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled EVERYTHING (server and clients) multiple times, and rebooted each time with no change in ANYTHING. I checked to see if the Plex files were deleted during the uninstall, and they were NOT the first time I uninstalled, but were on subsequent uninstalls. I have also DISABLED Malwarebytes (my Antivirus software) with no effect.

Related Services & Running Processes (Windows 11 Pro 24H2):
Plex Media Server (v.1.41.3.9314)
Plex.exe (v.1.105.2.269-12a32491)
Plex Tuner Service.exe
Plex Update Service
Plex ScriptHost.exe x 3

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This fixed my issue, although in MY version of the file the [ui] section was near the TOP of the file. Such is life in the big city.

Scroll to the bottom and remove the whole section [ui].
Save, then start again.
