Plex has no home page or covers after last update

Hi, I don’t have a link I found the last update in my download folder. Tom

Tom,
I didn’t mean to throw a curve at you.

  1. Control Panel - Shared Folders - Edit the Plex share
  2. Go to Permissions
  3. Check the box to give your Synology username R/W access
  4. When you now look in FileStation, you will see it.
  5. This is where I store all your metadata.
  6. It’s not for media. Solely for metadata

I will obtain 1.14.0 and post a link but, after having worked with enginering this morning, there is indeed damage in the database which needs correcting. The sour part is that if it can’t be corrected, you will be reforced to rebuild it from scratch. I can show you how to do that without losing your watched status.

Yes I’m aware, but the interesting thing is downgrading back to 1.13 resolved my issues…

Hi ChuckPA, The downgrade worked. I used SPK - PlexMediaServer-1.13.9.5456-ecd600442-x86_64.spk. It now asks me to update to version 1.14.1.5488 is this a new safe release to replace the corrupted update? Thanks Tom

Augmenting Trumpy,

Save a copy of the DB. Engineering might also wish to see it (if ok with you )

Hi, Why am I repairing the database when the rollback of the update repaired it and every thing works fine? Tom

Hi, Here is my database let me know if its corrupt before I go to all the trouble of repairing it  Tom

Plex Media Server Databases_2018-07-11_15-15-16.zip (22 Bytes)

Tom,
You’re repairing the database because it is indeed damaged.

I went around and around with engineering on this point to.
Their point, which technically is correct, is repair it now before it becomes irreparable.

In that same discussion, a few things came out which have been brought to the forefront.

  1. Actually export the database so we have a safe copy external to PMS. Exporting won’t output any of these damaged records it’s now tripping over. They will be recreated fresh when the files are next scanned. No data is actually lost.

  2. How they handle the database in software is changing. I can’t share details but they were able to make it a lot simpler to do things when PMS isn’t working. (Like it used to be)

The DB zip you uploaded is 22 bytes. Only a completely empty ZIP file / data file is 22 bytes. It should be a few MB when zipped. Could you check that please ?

Hi, I click on download database and it is only 22bytes. Please advise. Tom

Hi Trumpy81, Thanks for your help and quick responses. I have tried to upload the database zip file for your review but I get a msg that the file is to big (113mb) sorry. Tom
